It was more than just regurgitation. The first 4 weeks of training involved vocal self awareness and articulation in order to speak clearly so the computer could accurately transcribe output. Meticulous awareness while speed reading was pivotal in order to catch errors and make corrections to ensure the receiver could partake in conversation naturally. Teamwork was still utilized in call transfers and the monthly training meetings. A niche skill that has aided many of my other work environments through the sheer increase of listening comprehension and self awareness.

Independence and Advocacy, foreign skills for a newly graduated design student. The networking I had started through various community oriented positions, supported this endeavor. I learned how to communicate, provide feedback and offer support while balancing professional jobs on the side.

Solely production work, there was no customer interface. Meticulous inspection under a microscope, fragile work on heirlooms. A precious experience solidifying the need to work with people for a greater good as opposed for material consumption.

More than time for our own studies, we had to take on the responsibility for the studio. Shutting off dangerous equipment properly, making sure other students were not harming themselves or others and offering advice based on techniques already learned to junior students.

As a student, sharing insight on what worked and didn’t work, drove my own studies deeper. I had to be active and pay attention in order to support someone who might have other challenges and couldn’t pick up the same information. Learning to filter necessary information and convey it in an inclusive way.
